WebMaintain Builds Customer Relationships First, Then Websites

By Pamela Sosnowski

In today's online-laden world, a business' website is usually the first piece of marketing material that potential new customers will see. That's why it's vital that small businesses not only have a functioning and easy-to-navigate website, but one that is professionally designed and maintained as the business' offerings grow.

For nearly 15 years WebMaintain has done just that, by designing modern and interactive websites that take the pressure off of small business owners and allow them more time to do what they love.

Launched by web designer Thomas Dean in 2002, the company currently maintains 45 small business websites by keeping the content fresh, optimizing them for search engines, and maintaining their online security. Dean owes his company's success to the trusted rapport he has with his client base.

"Our services are very personalized," he says. "The business motto is, 'First we build relationships and then we build websites.' This is not something we just put on business cards but it's something we practice every day. A large portion of our clientele has been with us for over 6 or 7 years."

The businesses in WebMaintain's portfolio cover the gamut from e-commerce companies to restaurants and hotels. Many are local small businesses located in the Conway area or New England.

With over 180 million websites active worldwide, Dean stresses the importance to small business owners to having a strong online presence to help them stand out. But esthetics is only the beginning; it's great content that enables customers to find a business online.

"The actual design of the website if done professionally is the first impression a visitor gets from your company," he explains. "Although this is important, it is also important to have someone building your website who knows the ins and outs of search engines. Someone who can build your site from start to finish with the requirements that Google or Bing will need to rank your company website based on the content. Without lots of great content it will be difficult to achieve the rankings you will need to be successful."

WebMaintain also ensures that their clients' websites are fully functioning on mobile devices, something that is becoming increasingly important as surfing the web using a smartphone or tablet has become more prevalent. Along with web design and search engine optimization, WebMaintain has experience in altering photos, building web-based contact forms, web hosting, and social media.

Their services also include registering domain names for new websites and resolving server issues. Many of their clients' websites are created using a Wordpress platform.

The company understands its small business customers well because they are one themselves. "We are a small company and plan to stay that way. If (a customer is) truly a startup business, then designing something that is manageable for the business with a sensible and well thought out marketing plan is crucial," says Dean. "We do this by meeting in person to discuss these things whenever possible."
