To Bring People Together, Just Add a Little Music

By Elisha Neubauer

Jonathan Lorentz found music early in life. Growing up, he listened ferociously to Top 40 radio and oldies LPs. As a young elementary school student, he began DJ-ing, playing saxophone, and rapping- anything and everything that would draw him closer to his passion: music.

As an adult, Lorentz knew he had to make music his life. "Music seems to amplify emotions, and when the vibe is right, it can serve as a perfect common ground for us," explains Lorentz. Knowing music was an all-important element in many people's life events, Lorentz launched his own company, specifically designed to amplify and enhance those very important moments for others, sharing his love of music with those who sought it out.

Today, Lorentz Music Services offers DJ Services, Live Music, and Consulting for special events, weddings, night clubs, bars, and concerts. Each service is unique, custom built around the desires of the client and their budget. Lorentz's DJ services include dance lighting and planning support. Live Music services give clients a choice between Dr Sax's Swinging Big Band, Dueling Pianos of NH, 7oddSeven, the Jonathan Lorentz Quartet, or a range of solo musicians.

Consulting services provided include professional training/business strategy for performers, arranging music for publishing, producing concert series, format development/booking for bars and night clubs, and academic lectures.

"Our company is founded on the tenets of strong communication and honesty, while working in a cheerful environment," Lorentz states. "We maintain long-standing relationships with clients that are like-minded and together we create a team for every contract."

The company's long-standing relationships stem from their ability to know exactly what the client's event requires and how to provide it. "In some venues, it's the right choice to create an environment where music listening is the sole focus, and in other arenas it's more appropriate to have chill background music," he says. Either which way, Lorentz believes that music can be of great service to groups of people, whether they are strangers or acquaintances.

Music is important to everyone in their own way, and nobody understands that better than Lorentz, who has dedicated himself to keeping music a part of everyday life and integral to celebrations and social events. The music-lover has a PhD in Jazz Studies, an critically acclaimed album entitled Borderlands, and has performed and recorded with New Orleans' own Delfeayo Marsalis, Jerry Sabatini's Sonic Explorers, and jazz vocalist Teri Roiger.

In addition to finding the perfect music, Lorentz strongly believes in finding the perfect business pairing to make your event truly special. "When you find a vendor that listens to you, is forthcoming and transparent with market-rate information, can commit to you, and is trustworthy, start the relationship, and when ready, move towards a contract," he states. "They will be a big part of your very big day!"
