By Mike Deegan

Please tell us a little bit about your company and the services you offer.

A. We are Located in Rochester, New Hampshire, nestled between the Seacoast and Lakes Region. We offer high quality handcrafted furniture and custom cabinetry built to order that will fit any space in your home. Whether you are looking for one bookcase or an entire library we can meet your needs.

What should be the first step involved with getting custom cabinets made for your home?

A. The first step that we suggest to all of our clients when we first meet is to understand what your furniture or cabinetry needs are. Knowing what your needs are allows us to ensure that what we provide a product which meets or exceeds your requirements. Once we determine the need, we then focus on aesthetics. We strive to marry your tastes with the character or your home.

Is there anything that homeowners should know about custom cabinets versus stock cabinets?

A. With our custom cabinetry and furniture, you not only get locally made items tailored specifically to your needs, but also the materials used are of a higher quality and the craftsmanship and attention to detail is better than you would get from imported mass produced cabinetry.

What are the basic options available for types of wood and colors? Do you have any suggestions for when specifically to use any of those?

A. We do a lot of work with pine, maple, birch, oak and some cherry. Usually the client determines which type of wood is chosen based upon either existing décor or taste. There is no right or wrong. Another plus with custom vs. stock is that you don't have to settle for just a few color options. When you go custom, you basically have an infinite amount of color choices.

What is one of the biggest trends for cabinet finishes right now?

A. Often times we provide pieces that customers want to blend in with their existing décor. Other times they want the piece to stand out on its own as a focal point. But if I had to choose, I'd say the trend right now is more painted items over stained. I think folks nowadays are trying to differ from the stained look that their parents had.

Do you have any tips for homeowners who want cabinets that are durable and look great?

A. My biggest suggestion would not to buy based upon pricing decisions alone. I can't tell you how many times I've had clients voice regret from not buying a quality item made from solid wood vs. something made from particle board. After having to replace an item a couple times, they come to the realization that a handcrafted real wood product should last for generations. Hence our motto: From Our Hands to Your Home, Heirloom Furniture Handcrafted Your Way.

What's the best way for people to get in contact with your company?
