Optima Bank and Trust: Bringing Quality Service Back to Banks

By Elisha Neubauer

In 2008, Optima Bank & Trust opened its doors to the seacoast community of New Hampshire. A locally-owned and operated financial institution, Optima Bank & Trust works hard to gain your trust, in order to show that you can still find a bank that knows you on a first name basis. In fact, the owners, Dan and Pam Morrison both live and work in the Porstmouth seacoast themselves, adding a personal touch to your service.

"The idea for Optima Bank and Trust was born at our dining room table more than ten years ago," explains Daniel Morrison, Chairman and CEO of Optima Bank & Trust. "We have combined more than forty years of experience in the banking industry. Over the years we saw a growing need for a new local bank due to consolidation in the industry. As the big banks took over, the level of personal service was deteriorating."

The Morrisons knew they could do exactly what the big banks were doing, but with a higher level of service you would expect from a non-corporate entity. "The word 'optima' is the plural form of optimum, which means 'the best,'" states Morrison. "Optima Bank was created to deliver the best, both exceptional service and the latest in bank technology."

Since its inception in 2008, Optima Bank and Trust has grown in locations to six total across the New Hampshire area. "Optima Bank and Trust provides an exceptionally high level of service to its customers (individuals and businesses) anyone who feels like they deserve better than what they are currently getting," states Morrison. "It has been among the fastest growing banks in the country since it opened its doors. The Bank has grown from eight to now more than 70 employees, all of whom are among the best bankers you'll find anywhere."

To prove their dedication and loyalty to the community, Optima Bank and Trust has invested millions of dollars back into the New Hampshire community. They've done this through loans to businesses to grow and expand, and loans to individuals and families to buy and build homes in the area, and through sponsorships of local not-for- profit organizations.

"Optima Bank has won many awards over the years, and is a leader in providing state of the art banking technology," affirms Morrison. "We have been consistently recognized by bank rating agencies as one of the strongest banks in the country." He adds, "Optima Bank, its management, and its entire staff are very proud to have been recognized throughout New Hampshire for their contributions to the community and to the economy of the state."

Aside from its community contributions and excellent service, Morrison cites another reason to why you should bank with Optima. "There is a benefit to knowing who your banker is, knowing who is making the decisions," he explains. "Local banks have a unique ability to serve their communities. Optima Bank is owned by local people, people who live and work here in our community, it's actually a concept that goes back decades, when bankers knew their customers by name and vice versa."
