Manchester Community College Prepares You for Your Future

By Elisha Neubauer

Whether you're just starting out, looking to expand, or are changing careers, Manchester Community College strives to provide everything you'll need to excel in your workforce. Boasting an affordable tuition plan, flexible schedules, and a comprehensive curriculum, MCC will partner with you to accomplish your educational goals and plans.

"We recognize that employers are looking for more than someone with the basic skills necessary to do 'a job,'" explains Vicky Jaffe, Director of Marketing for Manchester Community College. "Today, business owners seek a qualified candidate who can handle real-world challenges.

At MCC, respect, honesty and strong communication skills are essential tools for success, so those values are a part of our daily environment." They impart these skills through the use of both classroom learning and a hands-on approach. "MCC places students into the same situations they will face in the workplace, so they can be truly prepared for the future," Jaffe details. "In addition, students are encouraged to participate in community service; they will learn by seeing the world from a different perspective."

Diversity is another perk gained by matriculating on the MCC campus. "MCC has an easy and straightforward enrollment process, with open admission for many of our programs," Jaffe tells us. These programs, totally sixty in all, are attended by a varied age and background range, with students ranging from 17 to 72 years of age, with a median age of 27. "We have a diverse mix of people walking the halls of our campus buildings," Jaffe says.

"Many of our students are people who are already in the professional workforce, and they are seeking advancement in a career they already have. Others have decided to follow a different work path and are learning new skills to help them change direction. Still others are recent high school graduates- some unsure of their next step, some preparing to transfer to a four-year college or build the skills needed to be an attractive candidate for work."

According to Jaffe, the College enrolls over 3,000 students annually. "Our hiring rate for graduates is impressive, and in some fields, like HVAC, the rate is 100% because of workforce demand," she tells us. "In addition, at $200 per course credit with financial aid available, Manchester Community College prides itself on being an affordable option for those seeking higher education opportunities."

She continues, telling us that students can prepare to transfer to a four-year University or head directly into the workforce, depending on their desires and educational goals. Either way, she says, they will be equipped with the skill set required to excel in their chosen career path. "From nursing to automotive technology, from advanced manufacturing to business, MCC has dozens of popular course programs which provide the exact skill set needed to advance in New Hampshire's 21st century economy," Jaffe affirms. "We have small class sizes to ensure people are not just a number."
