Kathi Sheer Provides Sheer Relief

By Jake Levin

Peace and relaxation is Kathi Sheer's specialty.

"My mission is to help promote relaxation and reduce pain without creating more pain," Sheer said.

Sheer, a married mother of two and grandmother of two, is always relaxing even if she's not in studio. Her favorite pastimes include gardening, walking, yoga and riding her bike.

As a licensed massage therapist, she sets out to ease her client's everyday aches and pains at her practice in Tilton, N.H. called Sheer Relief. Defined as a manual manipulation of the body's soft tissues to help people feel better and more relaxed, massage can also help with reducing stress, helping with headaches, decreasing pain, promoting sleep and enhancing blood circulation.

"I help with pain management by working on tight muscles using massage and some stretching and assisted manipulation," Sheer said of her practice. "If clients have massage on a regular basis, such as once a month, they will find that they are more relaxed, have more flexibility, and usually sleep better."

The office at Sheer Relief is calm in nature, mellow through its use of soft colors on the walls and paintings which fit the part. The music is always on an easy listening loop, all of which perfectly complements the massage. Sheer has options for hot massages, including hot stone massages. Methods such as these can be particularly relaxing on the lower back and shoulders, Sheer said.

Other massage options include Reiki and Shamballa, which are energy massages, as well as both light and deep tissue options. Sheer is in the process of learning cranial-sacral therapy, which she also offers. Sheer said that all of these options are very relaxing and do not require the removal of any clothing aside from your shoes.

Sheer's office is located on 264 Main St. in Tilton. To learn more about other services she provides, be sure to check out her website at www.ksheer.massagetherapy.com.
