Intuitive And Skilled Bodywork With Rachel Daggett

By S. Mathur

Owner and Licensed Massage Therapist Rachel Daggett is not a typical therapist.

Daggett draws upon her training and experience as a medical professional as well as intuition to guide her. She studied anatomy, kinesiology, physiology and pathology at nursing school. After working as a contractor for seven years at Sono Bella Spa and Salon, she opened her own business in Dover last year. She'll also travel as far as Laconia.

"The modalities I use, the way I blend them together and my overall approach to touch therapies is very individual to me," she said. "My goal is to achieve the most change in the body with the least amount of pain I can. I work with each level of tension and restriction so the body can function better as a whole which ensures that the recovery is easier, the progress continues and the kick back from relieving problem areas is reduced."

Daggett's style is highly intuitive and she chooses the right combination of modalities for each client by listening to what the body tell her.

"There are lots of ways to achieve goals for your body whether it be a therapeutic treatment, relaxation or something that will connect the mind and body," she said. "Some people need therapeutic or deep tissue work but can't handle deep pressures, some people need a deep pressure to relax, some people need to unwind from the inside out. The most important thing is to find the person who can work with you to get what you need with a treatment you are comfortable with."

The atmosphere in the office is designed to be welcoming and relaxing. The treatment room is soothing, and comfortable. The setting and atmosphere and the equipment become part of the treatment. Table, sheets, and all products are chosen to create a well rounded feeling of comfort and relaxation, Daggett said.

Animal lovers will be happy to hear that Daggett also provides pet services.

"I work with quite a few animals," she said. "I do energy work with them a lot and sometimes do muscle work with them. Sometimes in the office but mainly in a home setting where they are more comfortable. I usually work with them during a pet sitting of some kind when the owners are on vacation and need someone to take care of them."

Daggett likes everything about her job except doing the laundry. Bodywork and massage are her passion.

"On the days when the world is crazy I look forward to getting to work where everything makes sense," she said. "I love being in my space and working with my clients. It gives me more joy than any other job I've ever had."
