Health and Fitness Envy at NH's Number One Gym

By Kelly Church

Envy Sports Club & Café is more than just a gym. The Manchester, NH fitness club and café is a fully equipped fitness center with a pool, group exercise classes, personal training and café with snacks, coffees and teas. After being founded in 2015, the club was dubbed the number one gym in the state by the NH Union Leader's Readers' Choice Awards in the same year. Janine Mitchell, General Manager at the athletic club, says the facility has something to interest all of their members that span all ages that visit.

"We at Envy Sports Club & Cafe aim to be extremely community-oriented, inclusive and gracious to our members who continue to keep us as number one in New Hampshire and Manchester in 2015 and 2016," Mitchell says. "We offer programs to physical therapy programs to utilize our pool or workout equipment, swim programs for local recreation departments, donate to nonprofits whenever possible and network [or] partner with local businesses as much as we can."

Group fitness at Envy Sports Club & Café cover all the bases: yoga, water aerobics, cardio and strength training. The pool, which is referred to as an oasis, can be rented for pool parties, is open for group swimming lessons or individual swim, seven days each week. For those interested in personal training, a free 60-minute introductory session is provided to all members. Beyond that, members can purchase 30-minute or 60-minute sessions as an individual or part of a duo and in different packages.

The on-site café has a relatively small menu, but has plenty of smoothies, a few snacks and sports drinks to choose from. Smoothies are built with fruit, customer's choice of milk and protein powder. As an added bonus, members with a credit card on file also receive an extra 10% off at the café.

Envy Sports Club & Café has a sister gymnasium as well: the Envy Sportsplex. The Sportsplex is veteran-owned (along with the Sports Club & Café) and offers separate memberships for those who want to join leagues including basketball, pickleball and whiffle ball. Leagues are open to both men and women, and some are co-ed. The owners, one a former U.S. Marine and the other a former Chief of Police, are a father-son pair who wanted to give back to their community. The facility offers low rates to veterans, active duty military members, first responders, city and state employees, and teachers, to promote health and wellness among these groups in particular.

Guests can sign up for classes and training sessions online, and new members can join online as well. Veterans, active duty members, first responders, city employees, teachers and students are eligible for membership discounts at Envy Sports Club & Café.
