Get The Best Floor At The B&C Floor Store

By Keith Donaldson

Located in Portsmouth, B&C Floor Store can cover your floor with any material and do the job right. B&C owners Carol & Brett Bugard answered some of our questions about what makes B&C Floor Store stand apart from the competition.

What separates your business from competitors?

There are a few things that separate us from our competitors. One is service. We make buying flooring a pleasant experience and do not try and hard sell our customers. Also, we are a husband and wife team so the buck stops with us. If the customer has a question or some type of issue they speak to us directly throughout the entire process.

It begins with helping them find the perfect product for their space, no matter if it's tile for a master bath renovation, carpet for a kid's bedroom, hardwood for a family room or vinyl plank for a basement game room.

Second is education. It's important for customers to know if the product they want is suitable for their space. We're not here to just sell product. We want to make sure the product lasts. We ask them a lot of questions to determine the usage and desired outcome. We are very knowledgeable about our products.

Third is our installation. This is where the rubber meets the road. The customer can be happy with their product but it has to be installed to their expectations. We are a small business so we know all our installers personally and what their capabilities are. We take pride in making sure the customer is satisfied with their installation. If there is something that doesn't work for them then we take care of it.

What type of clients do you normally cater to? Why should potential clients take advantage of your services?

Our customers are mainly middle income families. We also work with a lot of small business owners. We make it easy and fun for our customers. Selecting flooring can be overwhelming so we are there to help and guide them through the process without rushing them. We want them to take the samples home to see how they look in their space. We will continue to work with them until they are happy with their selections.

We spend a lot of our time working with our customers on their master bath renovations. There are a lot of elements to a master bath especially in the shower. Most of the time, the customer isn't aware of their options. We're here to show them the possibilities. We talk about storage, how do they want to store their shampoos, soap, etc., shelves or spaces? Do they want a bench, corner bench or built in bench, etc. What direction do they want the tile to be installed? We show them the potential problems with certain layouts or tiles.

What else would you like to convey to the public about what you do? What do you enjoy about your job?

The most fun part of our job is helping customers. We get to find out what their dreams are for their new or renovated space. They get excited talking about it. We listen and help to make their vision a reality.
