Beer-Flavored Pizza Dough? Yes, at Portland Pie Company

By Heidi Mason

Portland Pie Company is known for amazing flavor profiles and delicious dough. While many chain pizza shops have a reputation for processed, flavorless pizza, Portland Pie Company works hard to stand out from the pack.

According to Cindy Miner, Portland Pie Company's Marketing Manager, "Our pizza recipes are meticulously tested, sampled, revised, and then sampled again before hitting the menu. We try to use new, up-and-coming ingredients and push the usual pizza topping boundaries."

Portland Pie Company believes that great pizza starts with great dough- with innovative flavors including Wheat, Beer, Garlic, Basil, Seasonal, and Gluten Free Basil. Guests can completely customize their pizza experience with the variety of dough flavors. After sampling their delicious pies in the restaurant, you can even purchase dough to take home and create your own unique masterpiece.

Not wanting to be an average pizza shop, Portland Pie Company seeks to create unique and interesting pizza flavor combinations. Try the Nor'easter (pictured below), with bleu cheese dressing and mozzarella topped with boneless buffalo chicken. The Harbormaster is also a customer favorite, with BBQ chicken over a red sauce base, topped with bacon and caramelized onions. Portland Pie Company also tries to keep things fresh with seasonal menus which debut new pizza items, or feature seasonal ingredients.

Those with special dietary needs need not stick to salad: with gluten-free dough and vegan cheese, as well as a variety of vegetarian toppings, Portland Pie Company aims for customer satisfaction. The popular Mt. Katahdin pizza, for example, features a pesto base with fresh spinach, artichoke hearts, and tomatoes.

Fan favorites are available by the slice daily. Selections vary by restaurant location, and $1 slices are currently offered at all locations from 9:00 PM until closing.
