Ashworth by the Sea: Oceanfront Views in Hampton Beach

By Marina Jokic

Hampton Beach stretches for about 1.5 miles on the coast of New Hampshire and is a prime destination for many New Englanders in the summer. Eileen Menard, Director of Sales and Catering at the oceanfront hotel Ashworth by the Sea, tells us that many families frequent the beach year after year because of the idyllic beach conditions, the vibrant entertainment scene, and the freshly caught and prepared seafood. Menard points out that the hotel, which is over one hundred years old, distinguishes itself by being the only full service oceanfront hotel in New Hampshire.

Despite its historic status, the hotel has a fresh feel to it mainly due to the recent renovations which added new glass balconies and a brand new lobby area. Some select guest rooms offer a direct view of the ocean, while regular amenities include high-speed wireless internet, an indoor heated pool, fitness room and a full service restaurant and lounge - Breakers - with a DJ performing on the weekends. In the summer months, live bands are hosted in both Breakers Restaurant and on the rooftop dining outlet The Sandbar.

The staff at Ashworth by the Sea can accommodate every palate in one of their three oceanfront restaurants: Breakers, The Sandbar, and Wharfside. Naturally, with their seaside setting, fresh seafood and New England lobster are the most sought-after specialties. The hotel's website beckons you to "savor in our chef's thoughtful culinary creations, sip a refreshing libation concocted from one of our experienced bartenders and unwind while dining amidst the ocean view."

Ashworth by the Sea works closely with the Hampton Area Chamber of Commerce and hosts several of their events throughout the year. For instance, they hosted the Annual Toast to the Coast in April of 2015, which brought about three hundred people to the hotel to enjoy food and spirits from local restaurants and taverns. In the month of March, they host Annie's Angels Heavenly Ball at which the founders along with their partners will auction off items to raise thousands of dollars to support families in need. Local charitable organizations seek Ashworth to donate gift certificates, whether it be an overnight stay or a certificate toward Breakers Restaurant. Menard emphasizes that they work with local organizations to donate coats, toys and canned goods each year.
